I’m so excited to share my itinerary for a family weekend in beautiful Grand Rapids, Michigan.
We stayed at the Amway Grand Plaza which has the perfect downtown location that put it walking distance from many of our destinations (and our room offered a stunning view of the river).
We happened to be there the last weekend in October, so we got to enjoy lots of fun Halloween events that were happening around the city. 🎃
We enjoyed our first meal at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market. It offers a diverse and delicious array of food, drink and treat vendors. You could definitely spend a few hours checking out all the different stalls.
Day 2 we walked to the Grand Rapids Children's Museum. There were SO many fun things to do, including their current exhibit Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum.
We then walked across the river to the Grand Rapids Public Museum. They currently have a Bugs exhibit, which is immersive experience that shows you bugs up close in a really engaging and fun way.
After a quick change into our Halloween costumes, Sully and Mike Wizowsky went to Boo at the Zoo, a Halloween experience hosted at the John Ball Zoo. We had so much fun trick or treating, while seeing the animals up close, and taking in lots of entertainment and decor throughout the zoo.
It was a beautiful fall day, so we couldn’t end the day without a hike. We drove to Grand Ravines park and took in the stunning autumn leaves while walking right along the Grand River. With countless trails to enjoy, you could easily spend a whole day hiking here. 🥾
We ended our day by attending the Grand Rapids Dia de Los Muertos Festival. This traditional Latin American day of the dead festival honors friends and family who have passed away. 🌼
We started day 3 at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. They have a really neat Discovery Gallery for kids that has neat hands-on activities like giant legos.
We had a DELICIOUS brunch at the charming restaurant Morning Belle Brunch, and then enjoyed one last hike at the Blandford Nature Center , which was a great way to end our weekend in Grand Rapids.
